Snowy day for the food industry - STAR COOPERATION

17 January 2017 was deeply covered in snow. Just as you would imagine the Black Forrest around the Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus in winter. Nevertheless, around 130 experts, company representatives and future food industry workers came to Rothaus for the Food Industry Day 2017 hosted under the title “Food retail in the digital era – strategies for the future in focus” by Handelsverband Baden-Württemberg.

 

 

The STAR COOPERATION also participated with Torben Schanz, General Manager at STAR DISTRIBUTION. There, he is responsible for e-commerce and retail logistics. In his lecture, he emphasized how important effective and efficient logistics processes are for the retail industry. Especially in the era of digitization.

Groceries online: challenge for retail

Torben Schanz talks about retail logistics in times of e-commerce - STAR COOPERATIONNotwithstanding high market entry barriers, the food industry more and more discovers online markets for their business and, in doing so, faces not just big shots like Amazon, but also fulfilment issues and the focus on the right target groups. “The challenges are big”, Schanz knows. „But it is all the more important to find a suitable logistics concept. If you have found that, you can differentiate from the competitors as well.”
