On 23 February 2017, the STAR COOPERATION introduces the works of the artist Werner Fohrer in an exhibition entitled “Dawn of a new era” at its first STAR Insight event in the year of 2017.
The Esslingen-based artist and his art moves between charted ground and the digital new age. This change in everyday life and also the art sphere poses an interesting question for him: How is the observer’s perception of art altered by the digital revolution. For, also his own works do not necessarily display his own direct view of nature any more. Instead, he paints the interpretation of reality presented in digital form by Google Streetview or YouTube nowadays.
However, it is not his aim to follow all trends. He virtuously combines modern means of photography, computer technology and digital image editing with the “old-fashioned” craft of painting with oil and acrylic colors. But also airbrush techniques are often applied in his works. From this combination stem interesting picture series that depict these virtual contents transformative pictorial.
Werner Fohrer studied arts in Hamburg and Stuttgart and has been presenting his works in galleries and exhibitions all over Europe for over 40 years. His commissioned art adorns numerous public buildings in Baden-Württemberg.
We invite you to meet the artist in person from 6 p.m. and to join him on a tour through the exhibition. Afterwards, there will be plenty of opportunity to network with all guests in a relaxed atmosphere.
