This past Tuesday, the CyberOne Hightech Award Baden-Württemberg has been awarded for the 18th time by the business initiative Baden-Württemberg: connected (bwcon). At the festive award ceremony’s center of attention were three young innovators’ team that have one thing in common: they want to help people with technology.
The STAR COOPERATION was also involved, both as one of the award’s gold partners and through Oliver Messer, Managing Director at STAR SYSTEMS. As a member of the jury, he had been reading and appraising more than 70 business plans in the preceding months. Overall, nine concepts made it onto the shortlist and had the opportunity to present their idea in person and at length during the big jury meeting. Afterwards, the jury of 29 business experts engaged in exhilarating and very positive discussions before they determined the three winners.
Award for life-saving innovations
Eventually, three projects with the aim to save lives had won recognition – all having been devised in Baden-Württemberg. The first prize, connected with a prize money of EUR 10,000, was awarded to the Ulm-based research team of Ad-O-Lytics. The team wants to reduce the strong adverse effects of current cancer therapy forms with their natural treatment. In this, they systematically use viruses to contaminate and destroy infected tissue. The fact that the third place was also awarded to a star-up in medical technology shows that Baden-Württemberg offers perfect conditions for companies of this industry. EnFin, based in Heidelberg, wants to identify those cancer patients who respond to specific therapies particularly well with the help of bio markers. Framed by those two was Werz Innovations on the second place. The founders from St. Johann near Bad Urach have developed an integrated avalanche system that combines both an avalanche airbag and a breathing aid for trapped persons in one backpack.
